Pet rabbit for kids

Hi

I am looking into getting my children a pet rabbit. The kids are ages 3,6, and 8. I am looking for suggestions on what breed is best for children. Also if it is better to get a male or female. Third, is it better to get a very young 7-8 week old bunny or a little older around 4-6 months old?
