Fur Loss Around Rabbits Nose

by Emily
(Michigan)

Hello everyone!

I have a holland lop rabbit who has a circle the size of a dime next to her nose that is missing hair.

The area has not gotten any bigger, there is no dandruff around the area or anywhere else on her body, it is not red or irritated, she does not scratch at it, there are no other areas on her body that is missing fur.

At first, I thought fur mites, but besides her normal grooming sessions and the occasional scratch, I am not sure if it is actually mites. I have googled and none of the pictures look like what she has. I also thought maybe she simply molted around her face, but the hair still hasn't grown back and it has been about a month.

The only other thing I can think of is that she was playing and ran super fast back to her cage and hit her face on the door. Maybe she hit it so hard and bruised the area the fur fell out? She eats normal, poops normal, plays normal, nothing about her has changed but the patch by her nose.

Any help would be great! Thank you!
