Chickpeas effect on rabbits??

by kells

Hi

Tonight my 1.5 year old bun got into some of my cooked chickpea snacks.

Unsure how many she ate or or if I should be staying up monitoring her all night since i dont really know the volume digested approx.

But can anyone tell me if she's going to be uncomfortable, or (god forbid) die from eating them??
the internet doesn't have a lot on this topic and i m hoping someone has a for sure answer.
THANKS!!

You should avoid feeding beans/chickpeas because they contain a lot of starch and can cause stomach upsets.

However they are not poisonous but can cause gas which can lead to further problems and they're full of starch, so they're not good for rabbits.

Although this is a one off and not something you have been doing on a regular basis, I would keep an eye on the rabbit until she passes the chickpeas
